Technical Writer needed to create and update product documentation, write responses to RFP’s, create and update training manuals and more. The candidate should excel in verbal and written communication. Insurance industry experience and prior experience documenting web applications a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Research, create and maintain technical writing deliverables, including technical specification documents, help files, and training guides;
- Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users;
- Research, create, and maintain procedural documentation such as departmental policies and procedures and/or how-to user guides and application guides;
- Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology;
- Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail;
- Edit, revise, and maintain existing system documentation as needed;
- Maintain records and files of work and revisions;
- Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or other personnel;
- Assist in laying out material for print;
- Conducts interviews with technical staff to gather data for documentation;
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation produced by others; and
- Update document libraries and maintain version control.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with paper-based and electronic-based technical documentation;
- Superior writing and editing skills;
- Proficiency with Adobe RoboHelp;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2007;
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Word;
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat;
- Experience working in a team environment; and
- Knowledge of HTML.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in technical writing or technical communication is required or equivalent combination of eduction and experience.
Experience Recommended:
- Minimum of 3 years in a technical writing role within an IT organization.
